He knew what the gun was worth. Story is, one of my co-workers bought it from a widow who found it, and four other guns, in a bag after her husband died. She sold all five to my friend for $750. He couldn't get the gun to run right, (it was just dirty), and traded it to another co-worker for a sporterized '03 Springfield he'd picked up for $40. He also knew the Luger was worth more than the Colt but that's what he wanted. He said the Luger would just be a wall hanger if he kept it and he wanted something to shoot. In the end we all got what we wanted and are happy.
