Well said! That's a good point about Gutenburg printing presses and the 1st ammendment. The framers of the constitution made their thoughts about the 2nd ammendment clear in The Federalist Papers. They said in no uncertain terms that with the 2nd ammendment, they intended for the private citizen to be as well armed as any contemporary army fielded by the government. They fully expected that any government, including a representative republic like our own, to become tyrannical sooner or later. They wanted to give us the means to resist a government that has turned against the people it governs. The important thing to remember about the second ammendment is that it doesn't give us the right to bear arms, it merely recognizes that our creator gives us the right to bear arms and that right cannot be taken away from us by mere men!
