1000 is a fair approximation of the number of Lugers like yours. The 1906 started at around 25,1XX and, as you can see from Lugerdoc's post that his is numbered 25,8XX in the same configuration as yours, that is at least 700. To add a little confusion however, there are some very early 1906 Lugers close to the 25,1XX number that do not have the GESICHERT marking, so it is a mixed bag. At any rate, they are scarce and surviving examples are hard to come by.
