Default A quiet rebuttal...speaking only for myself,

[PHILOSPHY MODE ON]

Please note that you will not find my endorsement in any of the [OT] threads, on any of the recently discussed movies except "saving private ryan"

This movie shows war for what it truely is. Gruesome reality. It is a graphic illustration to those of my and subsequent generations of what my father, and many other fathers endured to establish and maintain freedom here in the U.S. and elsewhere around the world. A black mark made by such atrocity on a global scale such as a World War must never be forgotten. The shock value of such history should cause all of humanity to think of the consequences of their actions.

Many of the other movies mentioned recently were frequently the fictionalized re-telling of actual historical events that basically serve a similar purpose of educating those who have never had to deal with war on a first person basis. The fact that hollywood used this as a means to make money doesn't undercut the historical relevence of the theme or the facts.

The fantasy games on the other hand, IMHO, serve no honorable or otherwise redeeming purpose other than "entertainment value" (if you choose to call it that). To each his own. This country has a first amendment that is protected by the second.

It just happens not to be mine, nor can I find any positive reason to endorse it for anyone else.
