I'm sorry, why is serial number giving wrong?

I understand that many feel that the secret police may come and look for your weapon (and I am not being sarcastic, many people are more worried than I am and maybe I should be?).

But can you explain why a serial number is bad? To give proper advice on the forum on what a luger is and what its history might be, don't you need a full number?

It makes it easier for the experts to help with that information, and explaining yourself might help me understand more?
