This is a difficult subject due to passions and opinions. All I can relate to is me cause that's just the way I am and everyone else has their own feelings about it. I only want the shooter class because of my personal interests. I have no use for the collector level(aka droolers) because I want to shoot them, carry them, play with them, display them, and trade them. I also don't wish to pay what collectors cost. A shooter/non collectible Luger is still a Luger, with maybe as much as or more history than the other. But I highly respect the folks who collect. They put their money where their mouth is. Their knowledge is intimidating. I don't have that passion. And in the historical perspective, I'm sure that a soldier in the trenches at Verdun or on the Somme, at Stalingrad or jumping into Crete, or in the Ardennes in Dec 44 really never checked to see if the serial numbers and magazines matched on his P08 or anything else either. We are talking about monetary value in the differences.
