WTK: 1936 S/42 for BYF 42
Hey all,
First off, this is not a "troll post".
I will be acquiring a 1936 S/42 P.08 in the near future. SN is in the i block (??90 i). I have been looking for a decent WWII Luger for sometime, but this doen't really fit my needs. A BYF 42 (in similar condition) would be better.
Now, the 1936 is 100% original (save magazine, which I think is a droop wing 63, kinda dinged up there and the mag body has a different serial than the base) as far as I can tell (SN matches on visible parts, interior left in the white, has "the look", grips are immaculate, etc.) The finish is 95+% and the straw is around 90+% (I am being conservative here), the bore is dirty (hoping no pits) I have not taken the piece down, but I have little doubt that I will find a "wrong" part.
The piece comes from an 87 year old vet. No glamorous "SS Story" with this one. He traded a bottle of cognac to get it. I hope to be picking this up in the very near future, just need to sync our schedules.
So here is my question: what am I looking at as far as a trade would be concerned?
Thanks to all for any input.
Semper Fi,
Mike
