Default 1918 P-08 Railroad Police?

I have acquired this 1918/1920 P-08 which is marked with an A.9.
I have been told that this was probably assigned to the Railway
Police. It came with a leather holster and two matching mags. The
A.9. mark is stamped on the front of the grip. The pistol looks to
have had some type of repair with a steel plate attached to the left
side of the frame just above and to left of the trigger. I have no clue
as to what the repair might have been for. The pistol is in fairly good
condition.
I would appreciate any info that would be forth coming. I am in
the process of trying to figure out how to send photos. Once done
I will try to send them. Thanks for any info.
