IIRC, it was during the late ‘60s/early 70’s that there seemed to rumors/misinformation/what have you… that a stock lug was an NFA violation in and of itself (i.e., constructive possession of a short-barreled rifle), resulting in some dealers/importers grinding off the lugs.
