Evening, sir. Congratulations on your excellent acquisition. The technical section on the Forum's opening page has excellent instructions on the disassembly/assembly question. Cleaning equipment is a personal preference, at minimum a cleaning rod with a patch holder attachment, a bore brush, and a good cleaning/lubricating solvent. Many members here use Breakfree, however there are many other excellent products available. Frequency of use is also a factor, since you will not be shooting frequently the preservation factor is to be considered. Clean it throughly after use, coat liberally with a good preservative, take it out once a month or so to wipe it down, and don't store it in a leather holster.
Regarding a first handgun, I recommend you go get at $125 S&W 38 sp Mod 10 and 500 rounds of cheap ammo. After you have repeatedly shot, cleaned, dropped, scratched, dinged, forgot where you left it, and can hit a 8x10" target with it at 10 yards most of the time I would then try the Luger. They are not in many cases a good first gun. Disassembly at first is daunting, lots of small parts, and magazine and mainsprings are weak or too strong for the standard 9mm ammo which causes ejection and feeding problems. They are wonderful guns, both asthetically and in engineering, extremely accurate, and are really fun to shoot. Folks here are always ready to help.
