"Wolverine" was what popped into my head at first glance. Like mistaking a Lahti or a Ruger for a Parabellum until your eye gathers enough details to make a proper I.D.

Without knowing more, it would be reasonable to surmise that these weren't military pistols, since firing from an open bolt would not lend itself to passing a mud/dirt/sand test, right?
