1908 DWM First Issue . . . . help, please.
Just bought a 1908 First Military Issue which seems proper; proofs on LEFT side of receiver, military serial number (4 digits with suffix), and unit markings on front grip strap. Also, it has the hold-open retrofit with the appropriate proof underneath the pin, and the hold-open was numbered to match the gun. All numbers are located in the commercial positions.
Everything about the gun indicates that it is really an authentic, not messed with, Luger. In addition, I bought it from one of the most reputable of all the dealers with whom I have done business.
It has several parts without serial numbers:
Firing Pin
Safety Bar
Safety Lever
Extractor
Sear Bar
Grips
I have read somewhere that some parts on the First Military Issue were not numbered. Can anyone confirm this? Appreciate any help you can provide.
Thanks,
Luke
