Unfortunately those numbers are highly inflated and loaded with political significance, as are most statistics produced by government-run or sponsored organizations. They have about as much reliability as the "gun violence" deaths, which we all know to be less truthful than damnable lies, to paraphrase Mark Twain. I'm not sure why you would expect them to be reliable given the way in which they have been used. A few months ago "dying WITH Covid" mysteriously changed into "dying FROM Covid" with nary an explanatory peep from the media types spouting the number constantly. What IS true is that COVID helps some people with underlying conditions along in the death process, but rarely kills them all by itself.
But even setting that aside for a moment, I consider the loss of freedoms some of us are experiencing to be a much bigger problem given the hundreds of millions of lives wiped out by totalitarian regimes in recent centuries for not following the party line. The USA has to this point not been a part of that, but now seems to taking part in the subjugation of the masses, at least at the federal level and in many states.
