The only Luger I have ever had "restored" was my Simson. I bought it as a shooter that had been refinished in salt blue, including the normally strawed parts.

Being "wrong" in these ways bothered me enough to have it redone properly. Now it's a pretty, proper, restored Luger. And one of only 12,000 or so ever made...

My favorite "shooter" is an all matching 1937 Mauser with serious pitting on the left side. Mechanically perfect. Just what you'd want in a "shooter"... so... there's a place for every Luger, including one showing the history of a GI chrome or nickle plate job...
