These sobering discussions remind us all of our loved ones and to never take their presence in our lives for granted. My wife of 38 years died nine years ago. I was numb and lost for years. Eventually I met a widow. We recovered together. We are now on our third year of marriage. We miss our spouses, but life goes on. We enjoy our life together but are acutely aware of the temporal nature of a marriage. Understanding this serves to enrich our relationship and we do not take a single day for granted.
