The best way to progress in Luger collecting is first to buy books. They seem expensive until you understand that you'll lose more in paying too much for the wrong Luger. With the reference material, you'll know what you're looking at.
Simpson Ltd publishes the most comprehensive book I've ever seen on Lugers, and, in fact, on any industrial product.
