I don't have those books and don't know anything about the "ku" controversy.

However, from the "ku" seen on this gun, isn't that an umlaut over the "u" (the two dots)?

From high school German class, that would seem to me to make the "u" actually two letters: "ue".

Is the "ku' suffix actually "kue"?

This is just a shot in the dark.....
