I doubt Simson had anything to do with the work; as the TP stamp began to be used in 1934, by time which Simson was out of favor. JMHO.

I agree with Don. The gun was originally an LP08. It was rebarreled by the TP in 1934 or later using a barrel which had been purchased from Simson earlier. The
2 on the bottom of the barrel probably indicates its' manufacture in 1922 by Simson. The gun was probably issued to the Gemeindepolizei. There are a number of similar examples. This type of rework of LP08s was also done in 1929-30 to arm the Landjägerei.
