A common variation to LPO8 barrel length on some matching Artilleries. is the cutting off of about 1/2" from the front of barrel. This was done at the rear of front sight base, due either to a frozen adjustable front sight or damage to the front of bore, and the front sight base would be re-installed or a new C96 fixed front sight added.
