1. Up for auction doesn't equate to sold. I suspect the second time this one was auctioned it didn't meet reserve.
2. Bought at a low price and resold at a different auction for a profit. Many auction buyers are dealers, buying stock for a store or bargain hunting for later resale.
This one was part of the Doug Smith auction by Heritage. It was poorly advertised and poorly executed. Sadly, there were apparently no reserves. A number of his pistols went for very low prices, while a fair number didn't draw bids. I know a couple of other Navy collectors who picked up a bargain at that auction.
