In regard to the revolver, it was in reference to the OP regarding home protection.
For carry, there are other issues to consider and choices.

Colt offered the hammer "shroud" for its Police positive size wheel guns, like the Cobra and Agent; I have on on my Agent.

Smith & Wesson offered the shrouded hammer in the model 49 and the like, some call it the "humpback". They also made the completely enclosed "Centennial" type, that would be ideal for a pocket if you want to carry there.
