It's an East German post war police magazine. "2" would have been the second magazine of the set that accompanied a pistol when issued.

2/1001 is the concealment code of Ernst Thalmann in Suhl Germany. There were two Thalmann sites in Suhl. 1/1001 and 2/1001 were the concealment codes.

These are very high quality and usable magazines and make excellent magazines for shooter Lugers. The machined and welded body is the best of all the magazines produced for the Luger.

This was previously the Haenel/Schmeisser operation, taken over by the state after WW-II.
