Here is what I have learned about the problem.
1. Ammunition used is Winchester ammo. No problems found until recently. (See original post.)

2. Lube used on Luger(s) is Miltech. One drop on each point that requires lubrication. (My friend says he has better success with Miltech vs. BreakFree.)

3. Recoil spring APPEARS to be the culprit.
My friend ordered two from SARCO last night. I believe he told me that the recoil springs are about $10.00 apiece.

I will update when I have more information.
