Reminds me of a Dutch artist who sold Goering a priceless Vermeer painting.

He knew it was genuine, as he painted it himself

(the artist, Van Meegeren, was arrested after WW2 for selling Dutch art to Goering. His only way to escape a collaborator's sentence was to admit to forging the painting, and many others)
