It takes some time to warm-up to them.

Dad took me on live fire ranges in Bavaria (1964), back in the day.
The gun was impressive, but watching them maneuvering in the woods was unforgettable.

These B&W are from his archives, taken during maneuvers in 1950. They drove those tanks all over local roads. Later, they put on rubber feet on the tracks, but these tanks didn't have any.

*Dad isn't in any of these - he was observing, but that's his car at the gate!
