The duct tape is a good idea. Tape the door seams, should keep the water out. My safe is all welded construction, if I taped the seams and dial I bet it would keep the water out. Maybe some silicon caulk for the dial/hand lever. Then just peel the caulk off when you're ready to open it. That would probably work on the seams too. Forget the tape.
