When I was younger, I got bit by the 22/30Luger bug. There were some postings here about some barrels and brass etc. Most postings mentioned twas hard to get a Luger that was a repeater out of the setup. Some may have had success cannot remember if posted or not here.
I went off to JLC Precision and had a Lee 30 Luger die modified to take neck bushings. Fooled with such a while in attempts to make the 22/30Luger brass right, but never got there; and shelved the project for a while.
I really think that a custom die made up with incremental shoulder bushings spec'd for the 22/30 Luger of the day would do the forming ok. These dies are a mainstay in the wildcatter's tool set. Die is easy, bushings are a pain to make.
I have some friends that dabbled in the sabot(224") in a 300 winchester mag rifle. Velocities were way up there, but the accuracy was not. So that was an exercise for the fun of it sorta speak, at least from talking with those guys.
I do not remember any sabot talk with the 22/30Luger postings of previous times here, guess was not thought of huh?
Even as a single shot, might be fun with loads safely worked up.
