That Luger's serial number placed it at the beginning of the Mauser's production, when they made several prototypes/cut-aways. There are actually several documented "Assassins Lugers" - and quite a bit of research has been conducted by another collector in Europe, but they all share several common charastics.
On the picture you linked to, the front barrel band and sight "unscrew" - and it is held in place with a spring in the sight base with a detent. Also, on that Luger specificially - it was taken complete with a silencer, but the silencer was destroyed by BATF before this factory prototype came into my possession.
