You need to explain a little more.
Are you talking about the Link or the pin?
Yes, pins (and the holes they go into) are "sized", normal and one or two over size diameters.

I doubt you can reduce the diameter of the pin accurately(no way to hold it), and you would need a reamer of the precise pin size to enlarge the holes.

Sounds like your "new" pin is an oversize one.

Why are you changing/replacing it ?
