Dear friends :
In my last post I promised to publish results of diferent Vectan BA9 charges for my 08.
here they are now:
First general conclusions:
Testing a lot of charges starting at 4,5 grains powder and going through 6.00, (using S&B sleeves, RWS small pistol primer, an AOL of 1,150 in. and light conique crimp on 115 grs fochi FMJ round nose bullet) the results showed that the increment of 0,1 grains of powder had very few influence in the velocity rate;
that BA9 is quite sensitive to atmosferic conditions ( sunny day 25 º C shots are harder and velocities higher in oposition to dark coller days , 15 to 18 º C).
After all this I notice that this was an hard task to define a nice load to my 08.
Anyway it goes next the charge and
average velocity obtained:
5.0 grs = 303.15 m/s (994.59 f/s)
5,1 grs = 327,60 m/s ( 1074, 08 f/s)
5,2 grs = 328,03 m/s ( 1076,21 f/s)
5,4 grs = 329,37 m/s (1080,61 f/s)
5,5 grs = 332,84 m/s ( 1091,99 f/s)
Passing to accuracy performance , lets have just a few results, from the total shooting made handhelded at 25 meters.
5.0 grains BA9
5.5 grains BA9
4,6 grains BA9
As I noticed that higher charge would spread the shots, decided come down and teste lower charges and got the last target image.
For the moment i´m gona stay at this mild charge and watch how is it gonna do in futur shooting.
Men: this is really a long way to go, yet.
