Not in 1935 Doug. 
In 1973, I faced one of H.I.M.'s Airport guard's UZI's as I anxiously awaited the arrival of my family in Addis Ababa... they make a REALLY loud cocking sound that apparently comes through the enormous 9mm muzzle (at least it looks enormous when pointed at you)... Needless to say, I waited patiently for her and my son to clear customs rather than go in to help her with her bags as I had originally planned.
