Same thing happened with a P38 when I was in the Army, luckily no one got hurt.
Since I shoot one of them Hi-Standard pistols I'd like to know if you found out what made the firing pin stuck?

It was back in the late 60's, IIRC. Brand new, had sat in the gunshop for a while. I swapped a Remington revolver for it, took it out to a sand pit near my parents Summer cottage, loaded 5 rounds, charged it, and pulled the trigger. Bang. Pulled the trigger again...Nothing. Looked in the mag...Nothing there...
Loaded 5 rds again, charged, sighted, pulled trigger again. Bang, again. Pulled again...click. Looked in mag...No rds.
Looked on ground...10 fired cases...
Loaded 5 rds again, this time just aimed at sandwall and watched to the side, pulled trigger...bang...and...nice stream of 5 fired cases arching down...
Don't really know why...I was only 18...I went in the service the next year; don't recall what happened to the pistol...
I just looked in my NRA book; I keep calling it a Trophymatic, but I guess the proper name is Supermatic Trophy...
