When I was in England (long ago), I stopped into a London sporting/shooting goods store. I saw there a sling that had a small noose at the barrel end, and IIRC, the butt end accommodated a sling swivel mounted as usual on the butt stock. The pop-off fore stocks don't really lend themselves to the stable/sturdy mounting of a swivel--and they are often very skinny. The loop would go over the barrel first, then attached to the butt swivel. In this way it did not slip off the front, and no damage was done to either wood or metal. It was quite nicely made, and made me want to get a shotgun just so I could buy one of these for it!
