Fred Datig and the Luger Bible~I'm posting Fred's article written in the fifties, He himself and Harry Jones in his book a few years later put a validity to collecting lugers. Before lugers were often seen as nothing but bring backs from a war many chose to forget. Charles Kenyan in the sixties wrote a red book, Lugers at Random and opened our eyes to so many variations and rarety fueling a new generation of collectors. The reason some collectors had such vast colections is there was no guage of value, variations or rarety at the time~ What are a thousands today were mere hundreds. For decades there were only 4 books on which to depend beside these 2. Jan saw the need putting a face and history all 11,346 pages in four books. He provided not only a written history but a story with hundreds of pictures and tables bringing it all together! I personally would like to thank Jan on behalf of myself his contribution to all our lives! There is coming another generation who will depend on books and articles written. People began to look at what their dads hid away in closets and under the bed. Make sure you know what you have. Our forum is a median to post and ask!~ You must read Fred's article. Only then will you honestly understand luger beauty. http://www.gundigest.com/gun-digest-...thelugerpistol
