I concur with Ed, this is not a Navy pistol  , but I don't ever recall seeing a mark such as the "M" on this pistol and magazine. 
I would need to see several more photographs from different angles and in better lighting conditions to comment on whether or not the magazine has been renumbered. I can not tell from the existing photo.
