George is spot on about these markings being from the Schupo of the district of Cassel/Kassel. The first marking is consistent with instructions issued in 1922 when Kassel was spelled with a "C." The second marking is in accordance with instructions issued in 1932. The spelling was changed in 1926 (HWIS, p. 60).
The I. in both markings indicates this pistol belonged to the Schupo command stationed in the city of Kassel (HWIS, p.132). The earlier marking contains a 3. indicating it belonged to the 3. Hundertschaft (company or centuria), a barracked Schupo unit. I can't make out the inventory number.
May I know the serial number and suffix of this pistol for my database? Since it was issued to a barracked unit, I doubt that it has or had a sear or mag safety. Correct?
