Well, it had an extra mounting screw hole...That's not preferable...

The Higging receiver is ideal for the side-mount scope base...It's just a tube with the bolt slot cut away...You can drill & tap straight through, not tap a blind hole (always a PITA)...
IIRC, the N3 mounts offset to the bore axis...It doesn't sit directly on top of the bore, but a quarter-inch or so to the left...On a .22 single shot, it's not a big deal.
There was one scope mount I saw advertised years ago that I liked...It was hinged...So if you were sighting in on a 300 yard shot and a bighorn sheep walked out 50 feet in front of you, you could flip the scope to the side and use the iron sights...
I've never been a scope fan (only had one scoped rifle in my life) but that would have gone on my hunting rifle...If NYS law had allowed rifles here...
