I checked my records; I bought a new FEG R9 9mm pistol back in Nov 1991 for $309.50 [plus NYS tax]. My memory of it was that all the edges were very sharp; it was painful to shoot.

Nice bluing; machining was equivalent to wartime manufacture; grips were OK but always looked unfinished...

Edit: IIRC, the 'checkering' on the grips was pressed, not cut.
