Eric! We discussed this before! Your Dad was raised in rank to an officer grade and he is tossing his enlistedman's cover over the side in an old Navy tradition! This was sometimes, but not always done at the Equator.

Bob, I have no idea and no direct way to find out, since Dad has been gone over five years. He was a T-4, Radio-Gunner in the 703rd. Bomb Squadron, of the 445th Bomb Group out of Tibenham, East Anglia.He crewed in two B-24s, the Yo-Yo and the Bad Penny. He rode both of them in during crash landings back at base. He was moderately burned the second time in. Yes, Jimmy Stewart was his CO, but Dad had no interaction with him other than seeing him from the back of a briefing room.
