An interrupted thread would be my choice as well. Just twist it on, maybe with a soft spanner to tighten it.

I don't quite see why the big lump has been added to the front of the frame...

It doesn't seem to do anything (barrel related)...The locking plunger is housed in the screw-in adapter...That lug has nothing to do with the barrel locking...

I'm still wondering about the frame cuts...It almost looks like the frame has been cut in half diagonally...And the two halves just positioned on the cannon assembly for this photo shoot...
