No one likes to be the 'bad guy'. TTD's practices may be perfectly acceptable in Japan. There is an excellent web site devoted to modelguns -

http://mp40modelguns.forumotion.net/

There, and from other forum members from/in Japan, I learned that the space restrictions in Japan are such that the same manufacturing 'plant' must conduct their operations in 'batches'. Casting plastic parts for a month (or 250 units), then switch over to casting or machining metal parts for a month/250 units, then switch over to assembling, then producing box inserts, then printing instructions/boxes (or arranging for it), etc. All in the same 'plant'. There is some sub-contracting but most parts are proprietary. There is some overlap, similar operations for different models. 250 units/year seems to be an industry norm.

If the 250 units are sold out, or pre-sold, then new orders are SOL...Until the next run...Which can be the next year...

I don't like this distributors practices...[TTD]...But in context, it is understandable...If you're willing to wait...

Was my experience typical??? I don't know...Some don't think so...Some think it is acceptable to have to wait...

You pays you money and you takes you chances...
