Herb, I am of the opinion that "Russian" Lugers may well be authentic...Maybe not this one, but at least the one(s) observed (and photographed) by Datig back in the early 1950's, as shown in his books...

But here's my reasoning: Even if it is an out-and-out fake, isn't it worth the price of a shooter??? Maybe even a high-end shooter???

Whatever "Russian" Lugers are, they have created a storm of controversy, and even a 'fake' could be considered collectible...IMHO...

It's like 'Weird Al Yankovic' music/video parodies...They are still entertaining, and downright delightful, even though we all know they're not original...
