Thanks Ron! I would not be copying a carbine exactly, or even partially; like the original makers, I would adapt what I have lying around...

I could cut a section out of my sight base to mimic the 'real' carbines, but it's not necessary.

I was interested in preserving the original serial. To that end I am examining how to mount a forearm without obliterating the number, or at least not hiding it. I think I can do it, but I would like the number to display without disassembly.

There was a member here selling a frame fairly reasonably, but he lost it...

(Lost the frame, I mean...)

Here's a comparison of the two Mauser sights I'm considering; flip-up vs ramp-up...
