The WW I submarine control room was mind-boggling...

The pic of the V-1 stirred my memory...Years ago, one of my supervisors at Kimberly-Clark was raised in London during WW II. He told me that the V-1 was called [by Londoners] - a 'London Taxi'...I was puzzled by that, but he had an old clipping [almanac page?] showing that -

In the first four years of war British casualties (including P.O.W.'s and missing) were 387,996. The number killed and injured in traffic accidents was 588,742.
