Skye..Imperial Navy stocks were first issued with no steel disc. They had a Crown M stamped into the wood. The Navy acceptance mark. Later they added the disc..often the disc is seen intruding into the wood mark. Most stocks were converted from no disc to an added disc. I don't recall seeing one with no disc except a commercial..So IMO yes you could find a stock with a steel disc and it would be correct. Or one with a steel disc and a Crown M would be more correct.

It took me 10 years to find my first Navy stock. That was before the internet. I have acquired 2 more since. Be careful...laying out 3K or more for a hunk of wood is serious business..Lots of fakes and monkeyed with stocks out there. Do your homework. GOOD un molested stocks are few and far between and when you find one..expensive.
