As with others, I am kind of confused as to where the plum coloring is, but I have an early Weatherby rifle with plum coloring; that early on when I was concerned and inquiring about it, some folks said: "Bad deal and the value goes way down." I talked with a factory man and he said it's just the way the metal and the bluing mixed with age and that it makes it easily verified as to the year of mfg. and that most collectors would gladly pay a nice price to get that rifle to add to their collections as they are rare indeed.
These kind of oddities require some of the real experts to provide the "deep" thinking.
