Dehumidifiers are great, until they tear up or you have a power outage. My safe is in my basement/garage/shop and I installed a small, portable dehumidifier many years ago. It's connected to a drain and runs continuously, and I also have a hygrometer on the wall so I can check the humidity now and then. This little thing has kept the humidity down 30-35% in a 2000 ft2 area, but it goes up to 55-60% quickly if the dehumidifier is out of commission (power outage, stopped up drain line, low on freon etc). In the summer, I just have to open the garage door for a few minutes and it will be 90-95%.

Anywho, Damp Rid will always work, so that's what I use in the gun safe. Checking the bucket now and then is no big deal, I'm there every day to pet my babies anyway.
