i'd take my father out to dinner, but he died in 1994. Served with the navy during the Soloman islands battles. Was an PBY metalsmith, kept them flying so they could spot the japs coming down the "slot". He said they were not supposed to land in the open ocean, but often did to pick up downed pilots. They would pop rivets every time they did this, they carried large amounts of lead pencils to stick in the holes to keep from sinking, just the right size he said.
