Is there a story with this? If so preserving it for your family is a serious consideration. I have seen only one really nice one done up. A fellow brought to the gun show to show me. He had the Luger mounted in a glass case with some other items his father brought back and the letter from his unit commander allowing him to take it home.
Hope you do. If not, it is always worth the memory you have of him. Shoot it if that brings you closer. Much more valuable than money.
Actually I am a pro "shoot your Lugers" guy but I'm the minority here. I think some of these folks wouldn't even play golf if they had a matching set of Homma clubs...
