Dick, He and John Walter were both very kind to me, the fledgling collector, I have several letters from each in which they graciously shared their knowledge with me. This was before word processing and handwritten (Sam) and typed (John) obviously took time and effort. One I cherish is this one from John where the challenges of typing jump right out:

The first clip is where he "Stop Press".. I love it. Now days, just delete and retype.

The second clip at the end of the letter where he re-thinks something he said and does a PS. Those are rarely seen any more.

I owe a lot to these two folks along with many others of lesser renoun that did so much to encourage me in my collecting.

Sorry for the off topic stuff--juat an old fart living in the past.
